This week’s  Five minute Friday prompt word is Cancel. You can join in the fun here: https://fiveminutefriday.com  As a writing community we write for 5 minutes(ish) no perfection or edits, the words just flow. #fiveminuteFriday

Walking in the muddy puddles of life
At times is most appealing
Splashing in the dirt and grime
Spreading my sin around

In the darkness
Of that cold word
Just one more drink
I'm not forgiving them
Why would I do that

But the day the rainclouds of heaven opened up
And Jesus entered in
He melted a heart so cold
And asks you child why the frown

My cross has set you free
I cancelled your every sin
Every word of hate
Act of disobedience has been washed away

So let my Holy Spirit in today
And cancel all the dark clouds
That are holding on to you
Let sunshine enter so you will shine
And never look behind.

Not my best but hey it’s Friday and 5 minutes! God cancelled every sin when we accepted Jesus as king. What more can a girl want!

  1. Beautiful thoughts, thank you! I especially love, “cancel all the dark clouds that are holding on to you, let sunshine enter so you will shine…” We all can relate! God is so good. (Karen, FMF #10)

  2. Yes, the Christ has freed my soul,
    and cancelled all my sin,
but it don’t work if I hold
    this ticket, not cashed in.
He has truly let it go,
    far as east from west,
but sometimes I think I know
my fault, and know it best,
and so I embrace my past,
for there’s pleasure in the pain,
and I try to bid it last,
    and have the guilt remain,
for if my wept remorse is through,
    what’s a new-cleansed soul to do?

I hadn’t thought about Jesus cancelling our debt of sin in this light. Perfect reminder. Thank you for sharing.
